Worth reading the whole post here for the plot!!
High res photos available upon request :)
As much as I love this truck, I am listing my 2001 Land Rover TD5 Defender 110. Reason for the sale is I have too many! I am an avid Land Rover enthusiast so you can rest assured this truck was well researched before I acquired it, and well taken care of by both myself and the original owner I purchased it from.
PLEASE NOTE
- The price is reasonable for the fantastic condition of the vehicle, so if you would like to counter, all I ask is that you come see the truck in person first, and be respectful with your offer. Thank you!
- I would advise coming to see the truck in person and we can talk through any specifics you might have, but I am more than happy to answer any questions prior to meeting. Of course, I dont want to take up your valuable time, so please be respectful with my time as well.
This truck is a beautiful example with 230k km for those looking to get into a TD5 Defender. As it is a diesel, you can confidently expect more than 500k km out of the TD5. Given that the body is in such great shape too, you have many miles ahead of you to enjoy. It is in excellent condition with no rust or rot through on the chassis (what you see on the underside is just dirt!). The interior is complete and clean, with bench seats in the bed for seating up to 9 people.
Regarding it being RHD - do not let this scare you off. Insurance for me is $350 a year, it is totally registered and legal to drive on the road with no implications, and it takes all but a week to get used to it, then you wont want to drive LHD again. A Defender should be RHD - its part of the uniqueness of the truck! And you get SO many thumbs up and smiles! That being said, I am well acquainted with a Land Rover shop who would be able to offer the quick conversion to LHD. If the truck does not sell at the price I am asking, I will be doing the LHD conversion and relisting for a higher price.
I purchased this and another Defender from the original owner - an older gentleman who was also a Land Rover collector. My search was thorough before I found this example as I wanted trucks which were as close to unmodified as possible, had not been abused and were in great structural and mechanical shape.
This truck remained mechanically stock, meaning no engine management systems or janky electrical to worry about. The only modifications, as you can see from the photos, were added by me and are functional updates…
Front Runner roof rack
BRAND NEW, NEVER USED 4 person roof top tent
Rear step
Front ARP bull bar
winch (works great)
The front and rear springs were replaced at about 200,000km, so the ride is smooth and comfortable. I have driven this one about 30,000km with no engine or transmission issues whatsoever. The engine is strong, pulls smoothly and fires up quickly, the transmission is solid and the diffs are in great shape. All fluids (diff, trans, transfer case) have been changed twice since I owned the truck as I wanted to confirm that there was no wear occurring.
Overall, this is a phenomenal truck and if you have been considering getting into the Defender community, you will not be disappointed with this example! Defenders have a presence very few other trucks offer, and if you are looking for the motivation to go out exploring, nothing will get you into the outdoors quite like a Defender will. You will fall in love with overlanding with this truck, I can guarantee it!
Again, the only reason I am selling the truck is because I own 5 of them and purchasing two at the time was more cost effective for me than purchasing just the one as I get a deal on them.
Looking forward to showing you the truck! Please text me as I do not check my Cardb.ca messages often. I am in the Toronto area, the truck is currently licensed and on the road (although I do not drive it in the winter due to salt of course).
